Who Am I? Introducing Me

Hi there and welcome to my blog! My name is Surabhi Singh and I am thrilled to see you on my website. Now you may know me as a marketing professional, a social media manager, or an influencer. However, before I was under all these labels, I was the 5-year-old kindergarten kid with a knack for creativity that managed to leave and come back to it 15 years later.

A Child at Heart

Growing up in a predominantly South Asian area, there were definitely pros and cons to living here. The pros being it was normal to bring Indian food to lunch, have oil in your hair, etc. However, the cons being the extreme competitive mindset, being afraid to ask questions because you didn’t want to sound “dumb”, and being judged on whether you’re an honors student or not. Not to mention the hundreds of after school activities we had to be a part of in order to show others that we can manage our time, when in reality we were burnt out and not making time for ourselves.

I always found comments that were negative quite difficult to digest. I kept thinking as a child that I was the one who wasn’t the straight A student like my peers, so maybe I am not working hard enough. It took until I turned 21 to realize, that I wasn’t dumb or hard working, I simply wasn’t passionate about my career path.

From Cells to Content Creation

During my fourth year of college, right before my 22nd birthday, I wrote to myself my goals, my aspirations, and finally a list of things that truly made me happy. I started my first round of blogging on a new account and was helping out with social media at my on-campus job.

This is when it hit me, I loved to create, help others and make a difference.  And then came Surabhi Singh, the content creator, and social media manager in the making. I found my creativity with the help of Canva, Lightroom, Instagram, and Pinterest.

Keep Moving Forward

This change of path was not easy. I made the sacrifice to take an extra year and a half of school, switch majors and had to work an internship, an on-campus job while studying full time, just to gain experience in the marketing world. Not to mention the courses I still take and the research I do daily to make sure I am up to date with the marketing trends.

After landing my first “big girl role” at an IT Tech Startup, I realized that I can do so much more with my time. As this was the peak of the pandemic, and I was fortunate enough to be in a permanently remote role, I decided to dedicate my additional time to freelance work for social media and influencer marketing, while creating content for brands I love and social causes. Little did I know that this freelance and influencer work would lead me to co-found my own social media and influencer marketing company.

I am now proud to say that my passion for social media and content creation has led me to become true to myself and passionate about what I do full time, part-time, and for the community. I am excited to share my journey with you as I navigate this newfound me, working to become the authentic, self-loving, and proudest version of me, Surabhi Singh.
